What song do you want to hear when the clouds are sinking low
and the moon is disappearing? When the morning tide is rising,
when the calm before the storm
is nearing an end?
Inside there are no paths, only creeks and rivers
and an ocean and sky, and land that is the flesh upon my hands.
Inside there is a forest, in the forest is a clearing,
and though my lips may taste like fear
I will try to sing how it sounds here:
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, hello;
the earth is spinning, shadows come
and go. Goodbye, goodbye goodbye,
hello The earth is spinning, shadows come and go,
but these clouds are sinking low.
But what song do you want to hear?
Clouds disappear.

With just a little more time
you just might've changed your mind.
With the turning of the tides, it seems most things
work out just fine.
I thought we'd be getting old and growing silver hair.
I thought we'd be spinning yarns
and rocking in our chairs. But you've gone on
to be with Mom beyond this world somewhere
so I was wrong, I was wrong, I was wrong.
I was wrong, I was wrong, I was wrong.
One day you went out alone,
one day you never came home,
one day the coroner's calling up on the phone.
Wouldn't you agree that your dearest wish was love?
Wouldn't you agree that your darkest fear was love?
But if you thought that love was something you could escape from
well you were wrong, you were wrong, you were wrong.
You were wrong, you were wrong, you were wrong.

Like a child, I smile
Like a mountain, I stay a while
Like a river, I pass on by, down to the ocean
and into the sky.
Oh what a glorious story I find myself in!
What wide wildernesses have I traveled through
on the wind. I topple and spin,
I end just where I begin.
I cry like a child, but my hair is starting to grey.
I splash and I play while the tide comes to take me
away. I sing and I play as the tide takes me away.
Like a child, I wonder why
Like an old woman, I sigh
Like a traveler, I no longer say
goodbye, only thank you, it's been
quite a ride. Farewell my friend, I'll
see you the next time. And oh my friend,
I'll know you much better
next time.
